Christianity Explored is an informal series of seven sessions for those who would like to investigate the Christian faith, or just brush up on the basics. It explores who Jesus was, why he came, and what it means to follow him.
You will not be asked to pray, sing or read aloud, and you are free to ask any questions you like. If you prefer, you can just come along and listen.
Who is Christianity Explored for?
Christianity Explored is for anyone who wants to investigate Christianity informally with a group of other people. Whether you have previous experience of Church, Christians and the Bible, or none at all, this course is for you. Everyone is welcome.
What goes on?
It’s really very simple. There’s a DVD, a chat and a brew. We usually start at 7.30pm, with a cup of tea. Then, after briefly discussing the course material from the week before, there is a talk or DVD on the theme for that week. Then the groups discuss any questions that have arisen, and the evening ends at about 9.00pm.
Of course, if you wish, you are welcome to stick around a bit longer and discuss any further issues you might have. What’s more, you can ask any question you like, at any time during the course.
After an introductory week, we look at the following themes:
Identity: Who is Jesus?
Sin: Why did Jesus come?
The cross: Why did Jesus die?
Resurrection: Why did Jesus rise?
Grace: How can God accept us?
Come and die: What does it mean to follow Jesus?
Why is the course run?
Christians believe that we have exciting and potentially life changing news to share about Jesus Christ. We do not have all the answers but are happy to help you think through your questions.
